Fire

is always welcome during the cold winter evenings. Whatever form they might take...

Tuesday 27 December 2011

Tango

the night away. Don't look around. Don't pay attention to all the peiople watching you.

I've had enough

said the old looking grey bearded tramp (who in fact was only 27). He had enough of his miserable existence in an abandoned building on the edge of the forest, he was fed up with people passing him by on the streets and not noticing him, or even worse, looking away in disgust or shame, he was sick and tired of being sick, hungry and tired, he was depressed every time he thought about his past, couldn’t stand the sight or smell of his here and now and was literally sick and experienced chest pain whenever he thought about his future. On this Boxing Day he thought about his life once more, threw up his last breakfast and exercised his right to spontaneous combustion.

Dance

After watching people dance on stage I cycled across town and went dancing myself. Luckily, I didn't have to do it on stage.

Revolution was in the air

As Bob would say they sang the songs of freedom, most ignored them and stayed in their warm safe heavens on this cold and rainy night, but some came up close to cheer them on and some even joined in and sang off tune. I have a feeling this revolution is slowly fading even though Mr & Mrs Smith have less rights by the day and find it increasingly hard to get by and feed the jnr. Smiths . I guess if Shakespeare was alive today he would write: 'Something is rotten. Here, there and everywhere.' I kind of doubt the people who call this progress, and I am 99% sure that this was not the dish I ordered (so take it back to the kitchen, and make us something people can eat).

By now

you should be able to recognise this shadow, as he appeared on my blog a few times already. If I had anything worthwhile to give away I would hold a small quiz with prizes and stuff, but as it is, you can just guess and get a pat on your back the next time I see you.

Hamlet,

but not a prince from Denmark carrying around a skull and wondering whether to be or not to be. Also not a cigar named Hamlet, and all the happiness that apparantly comes with. But Hamlet Express, which quite unlike the National Express takes you places that can only be found in your mind and not to the places found on a map (far, far away).
(for those who have not been brainwashed by the same adds as me, here is a taste of them...)

Ending it with classical music

on a battered baby grand, in a dilapidated building in a neglected complex in the run down part of the crumbling town in a bankrupt state in a rotten system... But the music was good, so we live to see another morning. Lovely jubbly.

I needed

to take a few days off from this virtual world, but now that I am rested from all this virtuallity I am back, and as they say, back with a vengance (well, ok, maybe with an early morning yawn).

Have a break

and have a Kit-Kat. No, no, that's just bad product placement (but that is what that advert did to me... I just can't finish a sentance that starts with Have a break...any other way). What I wanted to say was, take a break and talk to your friends (or fans, whichever are more likely to come by).

All the note

and microphone stands that come in the way of the photographer. You just try to do the best with what you have.

Monday 5 December 2011

Jazzy

And toying around... Trying to get the notes to float through the air and fillit, just as they did at the session.

Election day

Which used to suck as there is nobody you really want to vote for that has a chance of actually making it. (as Groucho would say: I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member. Which just means that the clever ones stay out of politics and the daft ones that are all into these power games and stuff go into it). So anyway, years back a few friends of mine decided to make elections a bit more fun and organised pre-election pancakes and tea, and then we go off to vote, first to one polling station and then to the other (all together) and in between we stop for coffee or an exhibition or just about anything that tickles our fancy really. And we have kept to this tradition for quite a few various elections. This time was no different and during our walkies round town we stumbled across some model aeroplanes. And it sort of linked in nicely with the story of the political party in Koper which is called Avion (aeroplane) and that we talked about before setting off to vote. My guess is that they are predicting that everybody is going to sit on the plane and leave the country, I mean what else could a name like this mean?

Trying out things

for the exhibition in less than a week's time. Even though we had fog all the time, this one evening when we managed to get together the sky was clear. Totally clear. Brilliantly clear. Clear skies so you could see all the way to Saturn and I didn't want to see much further than the end of my lens. So while the rest were rejoicing, I was not. But hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

They were going for

dreamy. I think. So I decided I will try to match them. Did I fail or did I succeed?

Drummer

I thought I should post the drummer today as yesterday's post was all about the bass player. So now we have what I like to call drum & bass. (Even if they are from different bands, different venues, different concerts, different days, different... well just about everything really).
By the way, I have no idea what the drummer saw, but I think he didn't like it. Was that a spider crawling across his cymbal?

I don't know

how they did it, but somehow they sent an email to the sun and out it came to play.

As I walked around

the exhibition this picture and this man stuck in my mind and connected themselves. As I was lucky enough to get to meet the guy a bit later (he was the one who officially opened the exhibition), I managed to master the courage (I am a ridiculously and stupendously shy person really) to ask him if he would pose next to the picture for me. And guess what? Well, it is easy to guess now that you have seen the photo.
And as I was on a role, I thought I would do another one.
(Thanx to both for helping me.)

Thursday 24 November 2011

It was all fine

until I bumped into somebody and she said that they reminded her of New Kids on the Block (yes you know who you are). From that moment onwards everything they did seemed over choreographed and well... ufff, do I really need to explain?

Double detention

and 5000 lines. Yup, I think I experienced both during my school years.
(btw: it reads Never again will I make boring art)

Monday 21 November 2011

Now that was exciting

Guess what I was up to. No, I don't think the photo will help you with your guess. It might help you guess where I was, but not what I was up to. Anyway, I went to Irena's exhibition opening. And yes, you probably guessed I took one or two photos, that wasn't so hard (to guess I mean). But I meant what else was I up to? Ok, I know that the human attention span has been reduced to the time it takes the average index finger to click on the mouse button, so you either gave up and started surfing on a different wave (or page) (in which case booo to you, but you will never know I just said booo to you as you are no longer on this blog) or you are still reading and you are dying to know what I was up to (I guess that is why you kept on reading) or you know exactly what I was up to and you just want to see how lost I can get in a single sentance. Anyway, at the opening I read a few of my poems (and yes that is the exciting part, but I have had years of training in how to disguise anysort of excitement whatsoever). And I have not done this in yonks (or eons, whichever is longer). And I forgot that it is fun. See, all I need is a little nudge from my friends at the right time and even I can master the courage to crawl out of my little see through shell. And who knows, I might even do it again some day...

Saturday 19 November 2011

In search of...

Fed up with all the fog we have been having, I decided I need to do something in the name of all us living in the underworld and try to bring you all (and me, obviously) some news from the world above... My forefathers believed that the world above is full of fresh air and that a huge yellow ball travels across the blue, blue sky. So I started climbing, upwards, high above the underwolrd, climbing up grounds that have not seen a human foot in thousands of years. Land uncharted, and I felt like the explorer who sat at the back of his ship, hoping that the wind will blow it over the edge of the world (he had a mortgage so high and life threatening he knew he did not have a chance in hell of paying it off, so sailing off the edge of the world seemed to be the safe and easy option).
What I found was something white on the ground. After tasting it and subduing it to various chemical tests I realised it had no special flavour and as I could not find a use for it I continued on my journey onwards and upwards. After walking for another eon or so, I could still see no blue sky. Only the fog I knew so well. I started to doubt the legacy of our forefathers, I started considering it just another myth...
The air was getting lighter and thinner, and the inhabitants of this midworld were getting smaller and smaller (probably because of the thin air). As I was walking (yes, still upwards) I stumbled across one of their skyscrapers in the fog.

Following a long and detailed search I found their chief, who was not really communicative. On the up side, he did seem to smile a lot...
...and he did offer me some of their local delicacies to eat (he also offered his daughter's hand in marriage, but after a few glasses of their local wine we both agreed that I might not be the best suited for her).
So now that I was re-energised and had a little rest I stepped boldly onwards. I am quite sure no human has ever gone so high, or at least has not lived to tell the tale. And after turning the 1178 corner, I saw this appear in front of my eyes. What our forefathers had been passing down through generations was true! The skies in the world up above are blue! Not everything is grey, and fog doesn't gobble up absolutely everything & everyone.
And the trees have different colour leaves.
And a huge yellow ball hangs in the middle of the blue sky.

And I really didn't want to go back into the underworld, but I decided I must come down and tell you all about the blue sky and the yellow ball and the fresh air... So now you know, you can all join me on my journey upwards and beyond...

Something

a bit different. Took way too many photos, at three completely different venues, all within a single day. (and yes that is what I call an excellent day). As the other two sessions were from a performance, and a performance/poetry reading that I just know you are dying to see the entire albums of here and here, I decided to show you a photo from something I don't usually photograph, but got a chance to do today. (And no, I don't mean women). I mean taking photographs of models under studio lights in a semi studio like environment (if you forget the millions of photographers all looking for their little space under the sun, ooops studio lights...). Of course, if this is more your cup of tea, you can see the full album here.

Taking time

for the fans. And I like that. I think all bands should try it. I think most of the fans don't bite, and even when they do I have a feeling the guys from the band might enjoy it. Click here for the concert photos.
